Laser Cut & Fabricated Pontoon Weldment

At Smucker Laser Cutting & Metal Fabrication, we utilized fluid handling solutions for making pontoon weldments for fluid management applications. We were excited about this project as it demonstrates our ability to combine processes to create a special project. The best part of the project is it shows what we can do in our fabrication shop.

We used top-of-the-line laser, forming, and TIG welding equipment to manufacture weldments. The difficulties we overcome are making sure this tank was completely waterproof. The weldment was made from 0.25 in. thick 5052 aluminum material by utilizing water-tight laser cutting. The product was delivered to the client’s facility in Philadelphia with a turnaround time of 6 weeks.

The client was happy with every aspect of our work and has come back to us for additional project partnerships. This project also showcases our teamwork as it started with the project manager and ended with a team of fabricators putting a great product together.
